Behind the Scenes: Capturing McDonald’s Biggest Burger Yet—the “Big Arch”
I recently teamed up with Red Consultancy PR Agency to create striking visuals for McDonald’s latest tempting creation—the Big Arch burger, their biggest yet. The brief? Bold, graphic, and deliciously dynamic images that highlight the quality of each delicious layer. Challenge accepted!
We opted to shoot against McDonald’s unmistakable brand colours, primarily their iconic yellow, keeping orange as a lively alternative or complementary tone. On the day, the vibrancy of yellow won out, making those juicy patties and crisp pickles pop.
The shoot involved capturing two main versions:
A beautifully stacked, classic burger shot, showcasing every fresh, inviting layer.
An exciting “deconstructed” suspended version, displaying each ingredient as if frozen mid-air, capturing the dynamic essence of the burger.
To achieve precision and creative flexibility, each element—from crunchy pickles to melting cheese—was meticulously styled and individually shot, often suspended on Perspex rods and stands. This setup ensured exact alignment and effortless post-production retouching, giving that perfectly crisp, floating look.
Huge thanks go out to the Red Consultancy team for the commission and collaboration. Special shout-out to food stylist Maud Eden, food assistant Kristine Jacobson, and photography assistant Amy Grover for making the day fun, smooth, and creatively inspiring.
